Corvette ZR1 trumps GTR

Corvette ZR1 trumps GTR
As you probaly know by now the Corvette ZR1 just recorded a lap time of 7:26.
but the thing about that lap time was.. it was WITHOUT a proffessional driver. GM looks to take another 2-3 seconds off that time with a real driver.
your thoughts?

Uh, the ZR1 should be able to beat the GTR (given that the price is about 30k more). A GTR with modifications of $30k could easily hang with a ZR1.

Heres what I think =).
GTR > Z06
ZR1> GTR
GTR SPEC V > ZR1
the Gtr got 7:29 around the the track.. 3 seconds slower then a corvette that Costs 100k and has almost 200 more horsepower. I think thats pretty sad to be honest. Put 20 more horsepower on a GTR ( intake / Exhaust ) and it will beat a ZR1 Around the Ring.
But lets talk stock so i dont have to read complaints. The Spec V will rape the ZR1 around the track ( lighter and more horsepower then the Normal GTR)
What do you think about that :|..

Yes indeed.
I like that the original poster just joined this (and probably several other GTR forums) just to try to **** us off...
The ZR1's lap time is impressive. Anything that can lap the ring in that time gets my respect. I'm not a huge corvette fan, but I still can respect the car and it's achievements.

Actually
i did join this site to post this topic specifically.
but not because i hate the car or am a corvette cheerleader.
i myself drive a honda.
i am buying a new car soon and would like to know what the enthusiast view on the car was.

Ok man... now you are sounding ignorant... like ... REALLY IGNORANT.. Z06 compared to the ZR1 is a big leap.. and a big time difference.. with a 30k difference. Do you really think they would make a Spec V and make it 3 seconds faster around a track>? Cmon man .. Get real. The Spec V will pull numbers under 7:20 Ill put my name on it, AGAIN, i Cant stress enough ... 480 HP vs 650 and 3 seconds difference ANDDDD the GTR is like 3900 pounds vs whaT??? 3300???? GIVE ME A BREAK..
Your fighting a losing battle man.. /quit

we should also remember that the 480hp on the gt-r is an underestimate, there are varying estimates of actual numbers, but keep that in mind.
either way, this race between (modestly) affordable supercars is awesome to follow and its rewarding to see how it will eventually play out

im not ignorant and im not against the GTR.
i am a fan of American Cars and Japanese cars. i really dont care which one wins, but again, if you look at the high performance cars which have run the ring' before, more hp. and lighter weight doesnt always mean a better time.
it will be fast but i would be genuinly suprised if it came out on top, especially as Porsche is now designing a New 911 for the sole purpose of taking back the ring.
