Question How much do you think the Next GTR will cost?

With all the specification rumors going around, many think that the 07 GTR will be very costly. What do you think?

consider, just as only one point, that the suspension for the new GTR is being created and designed by Lotus; that company is basically the number one consumer-brand entity for performance suspension. you basically cannot go any higher than that.

guessing again as we must, i will bet that if the 07GTR is even 50% of what the latest BNR34 Z-tune is, the cost is beefed up due to the r&d work; the manufacture of "exotic" materials specifically for the GTR chassis only:

you have, maybe, several titanium pieces that will become part of the car's suspension, maybe braking system. there will probably be a lot of carbon-fibre, or similar lightweight material, comprising many of it's body panels. and it's yet again upgraded ATTESSA and HICAS systems are going to be extremely expensive and limited pieces to create, replete with unique electrical systems.

the engine itself will feature internals that are above and beyond even the 350Z version. i think that there are going to be a lot of GTR-specific bits and pieces that will be made only in highly limited numbers, relative to the volume of their other models. and they must staff an entirely new department and train them to cope with this new car --not just in japan and the UK and kiwi/aussi-land, but throughout the world.

the more of a pain in the *** it is to bring this car to the market, the more it will cost. and the tax-bracket of the would-be buyer is going to probably be the same as a porsche buyer. so that, too, influences price: nissan is going to target the fat-wallet crowd. not the "affordable" crowd.

porsche does not target the affordable crowd. and i doubt this GTR will either.

it will be mildly interesting to at last see the damn car, and what it is about; to see how
off-base we were, and how spot-on we were.

They could just use archaic technology like GM and Ford and make 450hp for 35k.

NOT!

I think it depends where you live. In Japan they'll cost around £30k ($57k). In the UK, they'll cost around £45k ($85k) on import or probably £55k ($100k) if any official UK ones are produced. Not a clue about the US.

Best option in the UK is to wait a few years and buy secondhand.

With other vehicles, whatever we pay in Sterling you guys usually pay in Dollars. Rumours suggest £60k sterling, so it should be around $60k. It will definately be less than a 911 if Nissan want to keep to thier original goal with the 32 to "out Porsche, Porsche".

Let's hope it is that cheap anyway!

You missed my point. I am not talking exchange rate. If we pay £60k, you lot pay $60k.

For example: For arguments sake, if you guys pay $35k for a corvette, if it is sold over here we will be charged £35k.

ps - I have no idea how much a Corvette costs
