Bill Garlin Assumes New Global Infiniti Communications Position [Aug. 10, 05]

Additional National & Regional Communications Staff Changes Announced

GARDENA (August 10, 2005) – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) announced today that Bill Garlin has been tapped to fill the newly created position of Global Manager, Infiniti Communications. Garlin, whose global appointment was effective July 1, 2005, had been Senior Manager, Infiniti Product Public Relations, NNA.

Replacing Garlin will be Kyle Bazemore, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications. Bazemore has served in the Public Affairs area of Corporate Communications since joining the company in 2002 and is a veteran product PR professional with stints at Mitsubishi and Mazda.

Succeeding Bazemore will be Katherine Zachary who joined the company last year as Communications Manager in the Detroit area. Bazemore and Zachary will be transitioning into their new jobs during the next two months with Bazemore fully assuming his duties in early September and Zachary relocating to Los Angeles later this year. A replacement for Zachary will be named later.

Garlin remains located in NNA’s Gardena, Calif. office and will report to Simon Sproule, VP, Global Communications, Investor Relations and Corporate Responsibility, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (NML), in Japan.

Garlin becomes a member of the Global Infiniti Launch Team and will support the media introduction of the Infiniti brand across new global markets, including South Korea, Middle East, Taiwan, China and Russia. He also will assist local Infiniti management with brand positioning, media events, communication materials and strategic counsel in support of Infiniti’s entry into each market. Post-introduction, he will provide ongoing coordination among new markets for media activities, and help ensure consistent global communications of the Infiniti brand.

Garlin joined NNA Corporate Communications in 1994. Prior to his most-recent position, he was responsible for auto show and future product public relations. Garlin began his association with Infiniti as a model line manager for the Infiniti Division, helping launch the Infiniti G20, I30 and J30 models. Garlin also has worked at American Isuzu Motors, Inc., and BMW of North America, Inc.

Bazemore will be responsible for all PR activities in support of new Infiniti products in the United States including media driving events, auto shows, press information and press fleet activities. He will report to Kurt von Zumwalt, Director, Product Public Relations.

Zachary joined Nissan in 2004 after working for five years with Ward’s Communications in Detroit. Her new responsibilities will include crisis communications, sales communications and coordination and supervision of the Regional Communications team. She will report to Fred Standish, Director, Corporate Communications.

In other regional moves, Vicki Smith has concluded a three-year assignment in the Global Communications and Investor Relations Department at NML and effective July 11 was named as Senior Manager, Manufacturing and South East Region Communications at NNA/Smyrna, Tenn. Prior to her Japan assignment, Smith served in various communications roles at Nissan’s Smyrna facility and has been a Nissan employee since 1986. She reports jointly to Dan Gaudette, Senior Vice President, North American Manufacturing and Quality Assurance, NNA-Smyrna on manufacturing issues and to Zachary on regional and product activities.

Two new regional managers have been appointed. Jeannine Ginivan has joined Nissan as Communications Manager based in the Washington, DC, area. Prior to joining Nissan in July, Ginivan worked for the Strat@comm PR agency in Washington where she handled communications duties for the Alliance of Automotive Manufacturers and industry-related organizations, among others. She succeeds John Schilling, who is on a two-year internal assignment at Nissan.

In New York, Steven Oldham has joined Nissan as Communications Manager based in Manhattan. Oldham’s appointment gives media based in New York and throughout the Northeast a local Nissan communications contact and provides Nissan with a representative in the nation’s largest media market. Most recently Oldham worked for General Motors and previously was with the Kermish-Geylin Public Relations agency where he worked on several automotive accounts. Both Ginivan and Oldham will report to Zachary.

In North America, Nissan’s operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing.
