i dont think you saw a real prototype...im guessing some guy got an r34 and stuck bodykit on it. either that or its an import G35 coupe, which is called a skyline. nissan would NOT let some random guy have a proto in the US.

Here are the "Best Guessed" spec's for the 2008 NISSAN GT-R as put in the August 2006 Edition of Sport Compact Car VOLUME 18, NO. 08

Estimated Price: $70,000

ENGINE
Engine Code: VQ32DETT
Type: V6, aluminum block and heads, twin-turbo charger, intercooled
Valvetrain: DOHC, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing
Displacement: 3197c
Bore x Stroke: 95.5mm x 74.4mm
Compression Ratio: 8.5:1
Claimed Crank HP: 480 hp @ 7500 rpm
Claimed Crank Torque: 500 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm
Redline: 8500 rpm

DRIVETRAIN
Layout: Longitudinal front engine, all-wheel drive
Transmission: 7-Speed sequential with paddle shifting
Differential: Electronic LSD center and rear, open front

CHASSIS
Chassis Code: BNC36

SUSPENSION
Front: Double wishbone, coil spring on shock, anti-roll bar
Rear: Multi-link, inboard spring, anti-roll bar

BRAKES
Front: 13.8-inch vented disks, Brembo 6-piston fixed calipers
Rear: 13-inch solid disks, Brembo 4-piston fixed calipers
Electronic driving aids/inhibitors: ATESSA-ETS, Super HICAS

WHEELS AND TIRES
Wheels: 20 x 8.5-in. (F) 20 x 9.5-in @ forged aluminum
Tires: 255/40R20 (F) 285/35R20 @ Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position

These are the guessed spec's. But from I’ve seen recently, the Cars in 2007-2008 will all be powerful. Especially the sport's car's. Also a Year and a half is still a long time to wait. So in my personal opinion the GTR will get more powerful and more expensive to keep up with the competition. NISSAN stated that this will be their "Flagship Car" so I can almost be positive this car will get even more powerful.

I'm thinkin the doors might have the shaved door handles with electronic entry. Which will boost up the price a couple thousand

Ah yes! But will it get lighter?

It will already need to compete in the 500 hp club with it's rumored 450+hp. If it weighs in at the portly 3500+lbs that Carlos Gohsn mentioned, it will be sniffing exotic exhaust and looking at a lot of taillights...

Coming in under 3500lbs will be nearly impossible with AWD and a multi turbo set-up.

I hope it will be lighter. I'll hate if the R35 turn's into a new R33. But even if it's not, we can all hope the acceleration will make up for it.
