How Do I Register my R34 in Arizona? Legally and Legit?
hello,
I am a new member and I am in a dilemma...
I have an 2000 r34 in storage... because I am afraid of customs taking it... even though the car was completely legit in the fashion I took to get it here. But no it is not here on race car exemption and no the car was not federalized for road use.
I live in California but I am also a resident of Arizona, I own a business and a home there. I have seen two r34s in az full legal and AHP and the state dot doesn't care at all about the early gtrs, they are just another car on the road.. But i have no idea how to register the car.... i am clueless on the process.. i have heard some say i should due a rural area submitted kit car licensing.. I have heard some say just take the car to the state smog station off Cave-Creek Road and Happy Valley Parkway say you are partitioning for kit build license and title. After smoging it go to AZ dmv for paper...? This all seems to simple... I am very worried about loosing my car.... I have 90k invested that I do not want us customs or some state ***** bag flat bedding my car away... If anyone has real experience or educated legal knowledge about this matter please post what you know.
Thanks & Best Regards,

hey, I'm in a similar situation to you. I got an R32 in the Bay Area. Help for us is almost impossible.
Call this number (202) 366-5291 with your chassis number and verify if it is legit or not. if it is, it should not be a problem registering your car down in AZ. I've also heard it can be done in Carson City, NV.
Good luck and please keep me posted as I'd also like to hear the final result.

you can find the cars, just make sure they were brought into the US legally and have the US Bond Release letter from USDOT and NHTSA. but don't be stupid and buy a car without getting a copy of this first.

What does Legit mean?
Many years ago I posted a good summary of legalizing skylines in the USA see post at URL below:

The info may be old but it is likely still valid. If anything, laws only get stricter...
